Privacy Policy
Effective 3 October 2026
- Image conversion, upscaling and most background removal run on your own computer. Your images are not uploaded unless the on-device background removal fails (see below).
- We do not collect your browsing history, and we do not sell your data.
- We collect what is needed to run your account and license, take payments, and fix problems: when something goes wrong, the extension sends us an error report.
RightMate is a Chrome extension and website made by oddbirds.dev ("we", "us"). This policy covers the RightMate extension, the website at rightmate.oddbirds.dev and the RightMate server they talk to.

1. What we collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Account: email address, name, password (stored only as a secure hash by our sign-in provider), and your star rating if you give one | Signing in, password resets and support |
| License: your license key, a random device ID created by the extension, a device label such as "Windows – Chrome 152", and when the license was activated and last checked | Keeping each license active on one device at a time |
| Purchases: email, payment method, amount, transaction ID, coupon used and, for bKash or Nagad, the paying phone number and the payment SMS | Matching your payment to your order and emailing your key |
| Error reports: the extension's log around the problem, the extension version, browser and operating system, device memory and CPU cores, and, for video downloads, the video's address (see section 3) | Finding and fixing bugs |
| Technical data: IP address and the requests your browser makes to our server | Running the service, preventing abuse, rate limits |
2. How the extension handles your data
RightMate asks Chrome for access to all websites so its right-click tools work on any image. It uses that access only when you use a tool. It does not read, record or send us the pages you visit.
Image tools
- Format conversion (PNG, WebP, AVIF) and upscaling run entirely on your computer. The image never leaves your device.
- Background removal runs on your computer first. If that fails, the image is uploaded to our server, processed and returned. Our server does not keep it. If our own model is unavailable, the server passes the image to Google's Gemini service to process it.
- The on-device AI models are downloaded once from Hugging Face and kept in your browser's cache.
YouTube and Google Drive
- On YouTube, the extension sends the video's address to our server. The server works out the download links, but the requests to YouTube are made by your own browser, and the video is downloaded and saved by your browser.
- If you choose Try server download, our server downloads the video itself and your browser fetches it from us. The file is deleted from our server once it has been sent, and within about an hour if it is never collected.
- The Google Drive downloader runs entirely in your browser. We never see your Drive files.
Stored on your computer
The extension keeps your sign-in session, license status, device ID, settings and a short diagnostics log in Chrome's extension storage on your device.
3. Error reports and diagnostics
The extension keeps a short log of what it is doing (for example "download started", "merging video and audio", and any error messages), up to its newest 500 entries, on your computer. The log is sent to us only when something goes wrong: a failed download, an error or a warning. A report contains:
- the log entries leading up to the problem, from the extension's own pages and code (not from the websites you visit);
- for a failed video download, the video's address, the format and quality you chose, and how far the download got;
- the extension version, your browser and operating system, how much memory and how many CPU cores your device reports, and your IP address;
- your account ID, so we can help you if you contact support.
Before anything is stored or sent, the extension removes sign-in tokens, license keys and signed download addresses from the log. Error reports are deleted automatically after 90 days.
4. Payments
- bKash and Nagad: you send money to our number. A phone we control forwards the payment SMS from bKash or Nagad to our server, which matches it to your order using the paying number, amount and time. We store the SMS text, the paying number and the transaction ID.
- Cards: card payments are handled by Stripe on Stripe's own checkout page. We never see or store your card details. Stripe tells us the payment succeeded, along with your email and the amount.
- After payment we create a RightMate account for the email you gave us (unless one already exists) and email you your key and sign-in details.
5. Website, cookies and advertising
Our website uses the Meta Pixel to measure how well our Facebook and Instagram ads work. It sets Meta cookies in your browser and tells Meta when you view the site, start a checkout or complete a purchase. To match purchases to ad clicks, our server also sends Meta, through its Conversions API:
- your email address and phone number, scrambled (hashed) before they leave our server;
- your IP address and browser details;
- Meta's ad cookies (
_fbpand_fbc); - the order amount and currency.
You can limit this with your browser's cookie settings, an ad blocker, or your Meta ad preferences. The extension itself does not use advertising cookies or trackers.
6. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the services that run RightMate, and only what each one needs:
| Service | What for |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Sign-in and our database (accounts, licenses, orders, error reports) |
| Our hosting server | Runs the RightMate server and website |
| Stripe | Card payments |
| bKash and Nagad | Mobile payments you make to us |
| Hostinger | Sending account and license emails |
| Meta | Ad measurement (see section 5) |
| Google (Gemini) | Background removal, only in the fallback case described in section 2 |
| Hugging Face | Download of the on-device AI models (your browser contacts it directly) |
| Support conversations, if you message us there |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our users and service from fraud or abuse.
7. How long we keep it
- Account and license data: for as long as your account exists.
- Orders and payment records: as long as we need them for accounting and to resolve disputes or refunds.
- Error reports: deleted automatically after 90 days.
- Images for server background removal: not kept; processed and returned.
- Server-downloaded videos: deleted once sent, or within about an hour if never collected.
- Server request logs: kept for a limited time for security and troubleshooting.
8. Your choices and rights
- You can change your name and password in the extension's settings.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and its data, by emailing info@oddbirds.dev. We may need to keep payment records the law requires.
- Uninstalling the extension removes everything it stored on your computer.
- RightMate is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Security
Connections to our server use HTTPS. Account, license, payment and error-report data is stored in a database that only our server can reach, and the extension never holds our server's keys. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to collect no more than we need.
10. Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will also try to let you know by email or in the extension.
Questions or requests about your data: email info@oddbirds.dev or message us on WhatsApp.
